Service Checklist

Get your Apple device ready for service

To protect your information and save time, follow these steps before you get service for your device.

Complete this pre-service checklist

1.Turn off Find My

  • For iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod)
    1. Open Settings.
    2. Tap [your name] > Find My.
    3. Tap Find My iPhone, then tap to turn it off.*
    4. Enter your Apple ID password.
    5. Tap Turn Off.

* If you’re unable to turn off Find My iPhone, Apple might not be able to service your device. This policy is in force to prevent unauthorized persons from servicing your device without your knowledge. If you don’t remember your Apple ID and Password, please go to iForgot.

  • For Mac devices (Desktops and Portables)
    1. Click on system preferences.
    2. Click on iCloud.
    3. Scroll down to ‘Find my Mac’ and click on the check box next to it. Make sure there is no tick in the box.
    4. Enter your Apple ID and Password.

2. Back up your data

  • For iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod)
    1. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.
    2. Turn on iCloud Backup. iCloud automatically backs up your iPhone daily when iPhone is connected to power, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi.
    3. To perform a manual backup, tap Back Up Now.
  • For Mac devices (Desktops and Portables)
    1. Create a Time Machine backup, choose Apple menu > System Preferences
    2. Then click Time Machine
    3. Click Select Backup Disk
    4. Select the name of your disk
    5. The click Use Disk. Time Machine immediately begins making periodic backups automatically and without further action by you.

3. Remove your Sim card, protective case and/or screen protection from your device

4. Have a copy of your purchase invoice. This may be required for certain types of warranty coverage.
